Zhao Kezhi Visits the Photo Exhibition of “Carrying the Best Wishes for Peace – 20 Years of Chinese Peacekeeping Police”

On November 3, State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Zhao Kezhi visited the Photo Exhibition of “Carrying the Best Wishes for Peace – 20 Years of Chinese Peacekeeping Police” and delivered an important speech.

Zhao expressed high regards to all members of Chinese peacekeeping police, especially those who were still at the front line of peacekeeping operations, and extended sincere condolences to the families of Chinese peacekeeping police officers who have sacrificed their lives. He noted that, "through an extraordinary course of 20 years, Chinese peacekeeping police have made contributions to maintaining world peace and promoting common development, and have presented to the world the image and sense of responsibility of China as a responsible country. We should conscientiously implement the spirit of the important speech delivered by President Xi Jinping at the summit of the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, take an active part in international law enforcement cooperation, always be a practitioner of multilateralism and a supporter and participant of UN peacekeeping operations, strive to inject more energy into world peace and development and make greater contributions to promoting the construction of a community with a shared future for mankind."

Over the past 20 years, China has sent more than 2,600 peacekeeping police officers to nine countries and regions including East Timor, Liberia and Haiti, and eight sacrificed their precious lives. During this year’s COVID-19 pandemic, 33 Chinese police officers are still working at their peacekeeping posts.

Also present were Executive Vice Minister Wang Xiaohong, Vice Minister Lin Rui, Director General of the Political Department Feng Yan, Political Commissar of the Department of Security and Protection Li Xianfa, Director General Liao Jinrong, Political Commissar Wei Xiaojun and Deputy Director General Tan Jun of the International Cooperation Department, officers of the General Office, the Personnel Training Department, the Press and Publicity Bureau, the Department for Party-related Affairs and the International Peacekeeping Corps.
