Du Hangwei, Vice-Minister of Public Security, held a video meeting with Turkish Deputy Minister of Interior Muhterem Ince on January 20, 2021.

Du Hangwei noted that President Xi Jinping had a phone conversation with Turkish President Erdogan in April 2020 and reached important consensus on strengthening anti-epidemic cooperation and deepening China-Turkey strategic cooperation, which indicated the orientation for China-Turkey cooperation on law enforcement and security. The Sino-Turkish Joint Working Group at the Deputy Ministerial Level of Public Security and Interior provided an efficient platform for bilateral practical cooperation in law enforcement. He hoped that the two ministries would practically implement the important consensus reached by the two heads of state, further strengthen pragmatic cooperation in anti-terrorism, security, combating transnational crimes and law enforcement capacity building, and constantly deepen the China-Turkey strategic cooperative relations, thus creating a favorable atmosphere for the two countries to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations this year.

As Ince noted, the Turkish Ministry of Interior has always attached great importance to the cooperative relationship with the Chinese Ministry of Public Security. He hoped that the two ministries would continue to bring the joint working group mechanism into full play, strengthen exchanges and cooperation in law enforcement and security-related fields, and make positive efforts for the development of bilateral relations.
